Maintenance |
| Maintaining your IAG library |
Establishing an appropriate library or resource
area is only the beginning. For its continued success a clearly
planned system of regular maintenance is essential, and to
implement the system the library coordinator may need help.
This is especially true of larger libraries such as those
found in FE colleges.
In smaller libraries, however, it may work
better for one person to retain overall control of the maintenance. |
Tasks involved: |
| 1. Request new free information |
| 2. Date and stamp new materials |
| 3. Check for equal opportunities
content - discard questionable material |
| 4. Code with CRCI categories |
| 5. File in library |
| 6. Tidy library |
| 7. Check for missing for mis-filed
items |
| 8. Withdraw old or outdated items |
| 9. Do annual stock check |
| 10. Read reviews of new publications |
| 11. Decide on and order priced
publications |
| |
