Funding the IAG library

Funding your libraryThe budget necessary to establish and maintain the library may vary depending on the nature and range of the clients served by the organisation. It may be that any funding available through the nextstep/IAG partnership is the only source of revenue for the library, or you may be able to negotiate extra income from other sources.

If you are setting up a completely new IAG library, you will need to cost all equipment and furniture as well as information materials.

The following items should be taking into consideration when planning spending:

• annual reference books (Careers etc.)

• subscriptions to software licences

• an annual sum for the purchase of new books

• subscriptions to magazines or journals

• a photocopying budget to duplicate popular materials which will wear out quickly (see guidance on copyright on here)

• postage and stationery e.g. loan cards, envelopes, PC printer consumables and basic office equipment.
